ICE

Curling is played on an ice rink. Because of that, it’s classified as a winter sport and mostly played in countries like Canada or Sweden. The rink is around 42 meters long.

PLAYERS

Curling is played in two teams of four players each. One of the players has to slide a stone of an average of 18 kilos across the rink.

STONE

The curling stone is round and sleek and has a distinctive appearance, with a handle on top, which is used by the player to slide it along the rink. The stone has a function similar to the ball in ball sports.

BROOM

The players also carry a broom, which is used to sweep the ice and facilitate the trajectory of the stone.

TARGET

The final goal is to get the stone to the red and blue target, called the house, on the other team’s side. The stone should be delivered as close as possible to the center of the target.

TEAMMATES

The teammates help the main player by sweeping the ice in front of them, so that the stone slides correctly to get to the target. They can also block and knock out the opponent’s stone.
